ZACH Scalia and Tom Petrie might be neighbours and best mates, but when it comes to Origin they firmly disagree.

The two boys have lived side by side for nearly three years.

"Every day they want to jump the fence and play footy with each other,” Tom's mother Karen Petrie said. Tom, who is a Blues fan, was born in Brisbane.

"(I support the Blues) because mum and dad were born in New South Wales and I have always gone for the Blues,” he said.

Tom said his favourite Blues player was James Tedesco.

"Tedesco is really fast and a good catcher,” he said.

The seven-year-old said Tedesco played for the Wests Tigers and that he would be playing for the Sydney Roosters next year.

The Blues fan said he was usually allowed to watch the first 40 minutes or even the entire Origin game. He said his favourite "Origin food” was pizza.

Zach said he supported the Maroons because he was born in Queensland.

"A lot of my favourite NRL players play for the Maroons,” he said.

Zach said his favourite NRL team was the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

"Greg Inglis is my favourite Maroons player because he plays for the Rabbits,” he said.

Zach said he was usually allowed to watch the first half. The 10-year-old said he liked to eat lasagne while watching the Origin clash.
