Bureau give their race day weather prediction

IF WE’RE to believe the weather bureau, Stanthorpe is in for clear and pristine conditions on Saturday.

While any rain is welcome rain, nothing is expected after potential showers this afternoon (Thursday).

Both Friday and race day are predicted to be sunny and 27 degrees.

“You’ve got sunny on the forecast. Clear skies and lovely weather,” Jess Gardner from the Bureau of Meteorology said.

“There is a five per cent chance of rain.”

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday will offer up much the same.

Stanthorpe Jockey Club president Neil Brunckhorst said the rainfall in the build up to Saturday has softened the surface and greened up the surrounds.

“It was dead and brown a week ago. Amazing what a little rain can do,” he said.
