Icy event links with snow fest
ENDURANCE: Snowflakes in Stanthorpe is a diverse festival with attendees able to not only pull on ice skates, but running shoes as well.
In conjunction with the event, the second ever Iceman Challenge is making a return this Sunday.
It is being organised by Adrian Jannenga, who says the idea of this year's event is to challenge everyone.
"In 2017 we included it as part of the Snowflakes festival. It was an induction into what obstacle course racing is about on a very basic level,” he said.
"For 2019 I've left the obstacles out and it'll be technical trail running terrain, utilising some thoroughly crafted trails by the Southern Downs Mountain Bike Club at Mt Marlay.
"It makes for some very challenging terrain. That's exactly what I'm hoping to achieve - a challenge for everyone.”
The Iceman Challenge will consist of a technical 5km trail run starting at 7am sharp, followed by a fun 500m hill sprint at 8.30am.
"We will have plenty of prizes up for grabs on the day. Thanks to all the sponsors that have contributed,” Jannenga said.
"I'm going to call this the coldest trail running challenge in Queensland.”
Go to the Iceman Challenge Facebook page to register your interest.
The event will be free.
Entry forms must be completed prior to the race, located at the starting line, by 6.45am.
You can also register early at Jess's Beauty Room at 24 Maryland St.
