Money in the pipeline
FUNDING for the construction of a new pipeline has been granted to Southern Downs Regional Council.
The council has received close to $4 million for the construction of an 8940 metre pipeline between Storm King Dam and the Mount Marlay Water Treatment Plant to replace the existing raw water pipeline.
The current pipeline was built more than 60 years
The project will be funded through the $60 million Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program.
Local Government Minister Mark Furner said the project, along with others funded, would create job opportunities.
"The delivery of these projects will generate employment and boost economic activity for local communities, which is a major priority,” Mr Furner said.
"Investing in infrastructure is a very practical way to generate confidence in a community, making it a better place to live, work and operate a business.”
