National internet outage angers Telsta customers

TELSTRA broadband customers around Australia are currently without internet access due to a "technical issue".

While not every Telstra customer is affected, a Telstra technical support team member said some customers are being affected by a technical issue that is going to take 24 hours or more to fix.

Furious Telstra customers have taken to Telstra's Facebook page after waiting up on hold for up to two hours to speak to a technical support team member.

While no statement on the outage has been posted on their website or social media networks, the only mention of the issue was in a comment on one of the complaints on Telstra's Facebook page.

"We're aware of issues impacting Bigpond customers trying to connect to the internet.

We're working to restore services and are sorry for any inconvenience."

Meanwhile, Optus smartphone users have been affected by an apparent glitch that caused Brisbane time zone users this morning to automatically switch to Sydney time.
