NETBALL: Three representative teams from Stanthorpe Netball travelled to Toowoomba for the finals of the Interdistrict Carnival on Sunday where the players had the chance to meet Firebird Laura Clemesha.

Stanthorpe Netball Association president Karen Petrie said it had been a very long time since Stanthorpe Netball entered in this competition.

"It was immensely pleasing to see what the exposure to this level of competition has provided to our players,” she said.

"The confidence and skill level of all our players has improved dramatically and we congratulate them all on the achievements they have made to their team and individual play.”

Mrs Petrie said the 12-year-olds finished fifth in their division, the 14s team finished runners-up and the 16-year-olds' team fourth in their division.

Gabby Bell was named most valuable defensive player of the finals for her division.

"We'd also like to make special mention to Kirsten Widderick from Stanthorpe Vet Care for being the major sponsor for our representative teams,” she said.
