New year brings exciting changes to youth plans

A NEW year brings with it new horizons, new challenges and exciting opportunities.

For the people of Vineyard Christian Church in Stanthorpe, it brings with it a new building.

For years the church has wanted to take the next step in providing programs for the youth of the community.

The new year brings with it the completion of the Vineyard Youth Hub, a multi-purpose building with a large auditorium and three break-away rooms that will all cater for the youth programs of the church in the years ahead.

"It's an exciting time for everyone here at Vineyard Christian Church. The Vineyard Youth Hub has been fully funded by the generous people at the church and we have even had some great volunteers who are completing the painting and the laying of the carpet with an expected completion within the next couple of weeks,” Senior Pastor Jeremy Greening said.

"We are preparing for a big free community open day on Saturday, February 10, from 11-2pm where people can come and be part of the official opening of the Vineyard Youth Hub.

"After all, the purpose of this building is to be a blessing to our young people from the local community so it is right that we should put on a big party for everyone to come and celebrate with us.

"Our honourable state member James Lister MP will be in attendance along with plenty of free activities including face painting, live music provided by contemporary violinist Peter Shurley, leather stamping, kids games and activities, jumping castle, sausage sizzle and burgers available for purchase and much, much more,” he said.

As part of the new building launch, Vineyard Christian Church is beginning a brand new Vineyard Kids Club for children in years 3 to 6.

"It will be a free, high energy program with afternoon tea, fun games and great multimedia presentations, giving the younger youth of our community something exciting to look forward to each Friday afternoon during school terms,” Pastor Greening said.

"This program will run from 3.30-5pm and everyone is welcome to join in on the fun. All our leaders have Blue Cards and are appropriately screened so you can be assured of the safety of your children as they come and enjoy this exciting new program.

"Vineyard Christian Church will continue its high school aged Vineyard Youth program that runs every Friday during school terms from 6-7.30pm and this program will also run in the new Vineyard Youth Hub.

"Our Vineyard Kids Sunday School program will also continue in the new facility as part of the 9am Sunday service at Vineyard Christian Church every week.

"Vineyard Kids Club for kids in grades 3 to 6 and Vineyard Youth for high school aged kids will be launching on Friday, February 16, and our Vineyard Kids Sunday School program will begin on Sunday, January 28.”
