RizeUp against domestic violence at Sullivan Oval

THE Stanthorpe Gremlins and the community will this weekend take a stance against domestic violence.

Local junior and senior rugby league clubs across the Warwick & District and Border Rugby League regions will get behind a charity that is committed to breaking the cycle of domestic violence.

Queensland Rugby League operations manager Michael Jensen, who is helping to coordinate the round this Saturday, said RizeUp provided real practical assistance to victims of domestic violence by helping to furnish and fill a home with basic essential items that families normally needed when moving into a bare home.

Jensen said it was important to make people aware of domestic violence.

"Domestic violence is fairly common in today's society, unfortunately, and we want to help provide support to the victims,” he said.

"We are hoping that all the clubs in the region will get behind it.”

Stanthorpe Senior Rugby League, as part of Saturday's RizeUp round, is asking the local community to donate laundry and kitchen items that will be donated to the charity.

Laundry items include pegs and a peg basket, a washing basket, multi-purpose bench spray, sponges, tea towels, a mop and a bucket, a dustpan and a broom, clothes washing powder, toilet cleaner and dish washing detergent.

Kitchen items include a new microwave, microwave safe containers, a new toaster, a new kettle, a dinner set, a cutlery set, four coffee mugs, four glasses, a chopping board, kitchen knives and a utensils set, pots and pans, a grater, a mixing bowl, measuring jugs or cups, a mixing bowl, S&P shakers, serving plates, a casserole dish, a fruit bowl, cereal containers, storage containers, a water jug, coffee, tea and sugar canisters and plastic dinnerware.

If you can help by donating any of the mentioned items above, please drop them off to your local Warwick & District Junior Rugby League Club or Border Rugby League Club this week or on game day this Saturday, July 29.

Stanthorpe Juniors are facing Collegians this weekend.

The Collegians Junior Rugby League Club will be accepting donated goods as well as the Stanthorpe Senior Rugby League Club which will be hosting a double-header at Sullivan Oval on Saturday.

This is the second year that the QRL Central Division, Local Leagues and Clubs have supported the domestic violence charity.
