RSL filter cash back to region with annual gifting
THE Stanthorpe RSL Services Club has gifted a significant sum of money back into the community.
At their annual cheque presentation evening, the club gave out close to $62,000.
RSL club secretary/manager Jean Hallas said they tried to disperse the money to as many applicants as possible.
“Sporting clubs, community groups, community organisations and community events all form part of our Stanthorpe community and we are grateful to your members who volunteer their time and efforts into making these run smoothly,” Ms Hallas said.
“We had approximately 40 requests this year for sponsorship or donations and I am afraid our budget does not allow us to grant everyone’s wishes.
“However, we sat down as a full committee and have done what we can to help as many as possible.
“We realise that not everyone will get what they requested as requests more than doubled what our budget was.
“We tried to give most requests at least something towards their project and hopefully this will help.
“Communities such as ours can only stay strong through the good times and the hard times by pulling together in organisations such as these that were present on the night,” she said.
On top of the $61,700, the RSL also presented $5,000 to LifeFlight.
