TANKER CRASH: 27,000L water lost on way to drought-hit farm

ALMOST 30,000L of water has been lost after a tanker rolled over on Warwick's Eight Mile intersection last night.

A 45-year-old Toowoomba driver, who was travelling from Warwick to a drought stricken farm at  Biddeston to deliver 27,000L of water, crashed the tanker on the Cunningham Highway exit at 8.35pm.

Ambulance services attended the scene and the driver was treated for minor cuts.

He was later transported to the Warwick Hospital in a stable condition.

Warwick police's officer-in-charge Shane Gleeson said the investigation was still ongoing but believed wet weather caused the truck to crash.

"We believe the rain was a contributing factor," he said.

Two fire crews also attended the scene to contain a small diesel leak, according to a QFES spokeswoman.

Emergency crews took four hours to remove the truck from the highway.
