TWO Stanthorpe boys were among the ranks in the under-43kg rugby league team at the Zone 5 carnival.
Clayton Townsend and David Williams, both 11, were on the winning Warwick and Southern Downs side.
Clayton's mum, Kellie Townsend said her son was co-captain alongside Will Gross from Warwick.
She said after many hours of training and lots of hard work, they were proud to see the team come away victorious from the carnival which took place in Tenterfield from July 3-7.
Amid school holidays, she said this was a big deal for the boys, who also play for the junior Gremlins.
She said it was great to have some strong Stanthorpe representation on the team.
"They enjoyed getting out there,” Townsend said.
"It was just a great achievement.”
She said Wednesday, July 5, was a day off from rugby league but the team claimed wins in both athletics and tug-o-war as part of the carnival.
"They worked really, really hard,” she said.
"It's been a pretty big thing for them and they've loved working with a good team.” The team was coached by Ross Thorne.
